The Library of the Italian Cultural institute in New Delhi contains approximately 8000 volumes classified in accordance with the Dewey System. It contains also several periodicals dealing with different topics, such as: Literature, Theatre, Design, Cinema.
Moreover, the Library provides an on-line catalogue which is constantly updated.
The Institute has also a multi-media Library that includes 1000 VHS, DVDs, CDs and CD ROMs.
Access and Consultation
The Library and multi-media Library are open to the public for consultation. Access is free. Books, periodicals and multi-media material can be consulted in the reading room on the ground floor which is equipped with two computer terminals provided with the OPAC catalogue of all the reference material available.
The Library and multi-media Library are open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9,30 am to 1,30 pm and from 2,30 pm to 5,30 pm and Thursday from 9,30 am to 1,30 pm.

Loan and Services
Only members of the Institute, students enrolled in the language courses organized by the Institute, University students, scholars and researchers may take books and multi-media material out on loan.
The loan is free and it lasts 15 days for a maximum of three documents. The loan can be renewed by phoning to the library for a maximum of two renewals.
In the event that a borrowed item is lost or damaged, the member will be required to cover the cost of replacement plus 30% additional charges.
Loan to schools and other institutions
Book and audiovisual material can be borrowed by schools and other indian institutions by sending a fax with an official request to: 011-26871902
Photocopy service is free for a maximum of ten pages. Documents scanning, a new service lately activated by the library, costs 30 rupees per page. These services are provided according to the copyright laws in force.
